Sabrina Puppin
Sabrina Puppin è un’artista visiva di respiro internazionale, la cui opera è stata esposta in prestigiose istituzioni museali e culturali in tutto il mondo. Tra le sedi che hanno ospitato il suo lavoro figurano il Central State Museum of Kazakhstan di Almaty (2023 e 2026), il Museo Arte e Scienza di Milano (2025), il Kyoto Museum di Kyoto (2024 e 2026), il MEAM Museu Europeu d'Art Modern (2022), il Museo Civico di Marino (2024), il Museo Francesco Gonzaga (2024) e Qatar Museums a Doha (2020), oltre a numerose gallerie negli Stati Uniti, in Qatar, Germania, Italia, Spagna, Russia, Cina, Israele, Malta, Emirati Arabi Uniti e India.
Qatar Museums le ha dedicato una grande mostra retrospettiva personale presso le gallerie contemporanee della Fire Station di Doha. Nel 2020 è stata selezionata dall’Ambasciata d'Italia in Qatar per rappresentare l’arte contemporanea italiana in Qatar e ha ottenuto una mostra personale presso la Al Gassar Gallery di Doha.
Ha partecipato a importanti manifestazioni artistiche internazionali, tra cui la XIV Florence Biennale (2023), l’evento SEGNALATI presso il Parlamento di Malta (2023), una mostra a Madrid (2026), la 1ª Biennale di Sanremo e la 4th Bienal de Arte Barcelona.
Nel corso della sua carriera ha ricevuto importanti riconoscimenti internazionali. È stata selezionata nelle mostre giurate COLOR, a cura di Marcela Guerrero, e WIDE OPEN, curata da Paulina Pobocha. È stata inoltre artista ospite delle celebrazioni per il 300° anniversario della fondazione di San Pietroburgo presso la Gorohovaya 6 Gallery e ha esposto in due occasioni presso la Lalit Kala Akademi, la principale istituzione pubblica indiana dedicata alle arti visive.
Tra i premi più prestigiosi ricevuti figurano il Premio Donatello (Firenze, 2023), il Leonardo Da Vinci International Prize presso il Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, l’International Paris Prize 2022 e il Luxembourg Art Prize, assegnato per i suoi meriti artistici.
È stata inoltre selezionata come Artist-in-Residence per Expo Milano 2015, rappresentando il Qatar in occasione dell’evento. In precedenza ha ottenuto due residenze artistiche presso il Center for Contemporary Arts Afghanistan (2013 e 2014), organizzate dal Turquoise Mountain Institute e sostenute da Qatar Museums Authority.
Italiana di nascita e cosmopolita per vocazione, Sabrina Puppin vive e lavora tra Doha e New York City. Dopo gli studi ha scelto di dedicarsi completamente all’arte, conseguendo un dottorato in Studi Interdisciplinari e un Master in Storia dell’Arte e Antropologia presso la Union Institute & University, oltre a un MFA presso la School of Visual Arts.
Nel corso della sua carriera ha saputo coniugare la pratica artistica con l’insegnamento delle tecniche e della storia dell’arte, ricoprendo ruoli di curatrice di mostre, vice direttrice del dipartimento educativo del MIA in Qatar, direttrice di gallerie a New York e di una scuola privata d’arte a Doha. Oggi si dedica interamente alla propria ricerca artistica.
Il suo percorso creativo è caratterizzato da una profonda evoluzione, segnata da un momento di svolta che ha trasformato radicalmente il suo linguaggio espressivo. Dopo una fase iniziale fortemente legata al realismo, Puppin ha progressivamente abbandonato le strutture formali consolidate per orientarsi verso una ricerca più libera, sperimentale e personale. Questo cambiamento ha dato origine a una pratica artistica che indaga la complessità della realtà e della percezione, invitando l’osservatore a interrogarsi sul significato delle immagini e sulla natura dell’esperienza umana.
Le opere di Sabrina Puppin sono state pubblicate in numerose riviste, cataloghi e pubblicazioni internazionali e fanno parte di importanti collezioni pubbliche e private in diversi Paesi del mondo.
Sabrina Puppin is an internationally acclaimed visual artist whose work has been exhibited in prestigious museums and cultural institutions around the world. Her exhibitions have been featured at the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan in Almaty (2023 and 2026), Museo Arte e Scienza in Milan (2025), the Kyoto Museum in Kyoto (2024 and 2026), the MEAM Museu Europeu d’Art Modern in Barcelona (2022), the Museo Civico di Marino (2024), the Museo Francesco Gonzaga (2024), and Qatar Museums in Doha (2020), as well as in numerous galleries across the United States, Qatar, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, China, Israel, Malta, the United Arab Emirates, and India.
Qatar Museums dedicated a major solo retrospective to her at the Fire Station contemporary galleries in Doha. In 2020, she was selected by the Italian Embassy in Qatar to represent Italian contemporary art in the country and was awarded a solo exhibition at Al Gassar Gallery in Doha.
She has participated in major international art events, including the XIV Florence Biennale (2023), the SEGNALATI exhibition at the Parliament of Malta (2023), an exhibition in Madrid (2026), the 1st Sanremo Biennale, and the 4th Bienal de Arte Barcelona.
Throughout her career, she has received significant international recognition. She was selected for the juried exhibitions COLOR, curated by Marcela Guerrero, and WIDE OPEN, curated by Paulina Pobocha. She was also invited as a guest artist for the celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the founding of Saint Petersburg at Gorohovaya 6 Gallery and has exhibited twice at the Lalit Kala Akademi, India’s foremost public institution dedicated to the visual arts.
Among her most prestigious awards are the Premio Donatello (Florence, 2023), the Leonardo Da Vinci International Prize at the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan, the International Paris Prize 2022, and the Luxembourg Art Prize, awarded in recognition of her artistic achievements.

Earlier, she completed two artist residencies at the Center for Contemporary Arts Afghanistan (2013 and 2014), organized by the Turquoise Mountain Institute and supported by the Qatar Museums Authority.
Italian by birth and cosmopolitan by vocation, Sabrina Puppin lives and works between Doha and New York City. After completing her studies, she chose to devote herself entirely to art, earning a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s Degree in Art History and Anthropology from Union Institute & University, as well as an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
Throughout her professional career, she successfully combined her artistic practice with teaching art techniques and art history. She has served as an exhibition curator, Deputy Director of the Education Department at MIA in Qatar, director of galleries in New York, and head of a private art school in Doha. Today, she is fully dedicated to her artistic research and practice.
Her creative journey is marked by a profound evolution and a pivotal turning point that radically transformed her artistic language. After an initial phase strongly rooted in realism, Puppin gradually moved away from established formal structures toward a freer, more experimental, and deeply personal mode of expression. This transition gave rise to an artistic practice that explores the complexity of reality and perception, inviting viewers to question the meaning of images and the nature of human experience.
