Valerio Murri
IT: Valerio Murri è nato nel 1968 a Viareggio, dove vive e lavora. Dopo la maturità classica si è laureato in Scienze Politiche a Pisa. Durante gli anni dell’università ha seguito le lezioni del pittore viareggino Guido Bucci, in quella che un tempo si sarebbe definita una “scuola libera” di pittura e disegno. Ha iniziato a esporre nel 1999. Al suo attivo ha diverse mostre personali e collettive in spazi pubblici e privati, nonché partecipazioni alle principali fiere d’arte italiane.
Nel 2001 ha vinto la targa d’argento al Premio Arte Mondadori. Nel 2003 è stato invitato al Premio Cairo Communication. Nel 2006 è stato inserito nella classifica dei 100 giovani artisti emergenti italiani della rivista Flash Art. Articoli su di lui sono comparsi su Arte, Flash Art, Tema Celeste, Arte e Critica, Exibart, Juliet. Benché negli anni la sua ricerca abbia prodotto sconfinamenti nel campo della fotografia, compresa la Polaroid, e della scultura, i suoi interessi attuali riguardano esclusivamente la pittura e il suo rovescio progettuale, il disegno, spesso accompagnato da frammenti di testo e presentato in genere con modalità installativa.
EN: Valerio Murri was born in 1968 in Viareggio, where he lives and works. After graduating from high school with a classical high school diploma, he earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Pisa. During his university years, he studied with the Viareggio-born painter Guido Bucci, in what was once called a "free school" of painting and drawing. He began exhibiting in 1999. He has held several solo and group exhibitions in public and private spaces, as well as participating in major Italian art fairs.
In 2001, he won the silver plaque at the Premio Arte Mondadori. In 2003, he was invited to the Premio Cairo Communication. In 2006, he was included in the list of 100 emerging young Italian artists by Flash Art magazine. Articles about him have appeared in Arte, Flash Art, Tema Celeste, Arte e Critica, Exibart, and Juliet. Although over the years his research has branched out into photography, including Polaroid, and sculpture, his current interests are exclusively in painting and its design counterpart, drawing, often accompanied by fragments of text and generally presented in an installation format.
